September 3rd is the date of the Annual Wines from Spain Tasting. The excitement is building and here is a taste of what is on offer this year…
The Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain is pleased to announce their Annual Spanish Wine Tasting to members of the wine press and trade. The ‘Wines from Spain: The Rising Stars”, which will take place on the 3rd September in the Ballroom, the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin 2.
Over 300 wines, including many hidden gems will be on show at The Rising Stars Tasting with the collaboration of 20 Irish importers and representatives from 10 key Spanish wineries are travelling to Dublin for the event.

2009 sees a return of the popular “Christmas Stars” competition. The participating importers each selected 2 wines, as their perfect match for Christmas Day. All visitors can take part and vote for their favourite wine under €15 and over €15. The top ten wines will appear in Christmas publications.
The event has grown yet again and we have accommodated this growth by moving to the Shelbourne’s Great Room. Last year the event had an unprecedented number of trade visitors, 180 and was hailed as one of the top wine tastings of the year in Dublin. This year’s event will give wine enthusiasts, wine trade and media a chance to meet winery principals and wine makers and taste a selection of newly released wines from Spain, the new world of the old world.
