WINNERS OF THE 2009 CHRISTMAS STARS COMPETITION

This year for the second time, an exciting competition took place at the annual Wines from Spain Fair. The 2009 Wines from Spain: The Rising Stars tasting was held at the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin 2 on Thursday, 3rd September 2009.

20 Irish importers had the opportunity to show their best Spanish wines to the most renowned restaurants, hotels and catering companies, as well as importers and distributors. Over 300 Spanish wines were represented at the Fair. 40 wines were specially selected by the 20 participating importers to enter the 2009 Christmas Stars competition, in order to choose the perfect list of the Top 10 wines for the forthcoming Christmas Season.

Chosen by wines experts from restaurants, wine shops, retailers and wine importers, below is the list of the Top 10 Spanish wines, winners of the Christmas Stars competition. Five wines above € 15 and five wines under € 15 were selected.
